Green Light

Today was the day that I received all of my test results from everything that I had to go through this week. As you can imagine I was very anxious this morning as this news would determine how we would proceed with everything.

All of my tests came back great and I was given the green light. My bone marrow came back negative which means it was 'clean' of cancer...shew... and my PET scan showed that the chemo I was receiving before coming down here had eliminated most of my disease. The PET still shows one 'hot' spot, but that is what they expected it would show, which may or may not be cancer. There really isn't a way to know, but they are going to proceed as if it is.

I received my first round of Growth Factor Shots this afternoon which will give my body an extra boost and stimulate it to produce more stem cells. I will receive these until my blood shows that it is ready to be harvested. I will get a blood draw on Sunday which will determine or not if they can begin harvesting on Monday. If I'm not quite ready yet, I will get another shot and then get another draw the next day to check and they will keep working with me until my blood shows the level they require.

Tomorrow morning I will be going into surgery to get my central line put in and my port taken out. The port is not big enough to handle what will be going in and coming out of me in the next few weeks so I have to get this done.

My boys are coming down tomorrow!!! I am so excited to see and be with them. I will write again next week when I have the results from my blood draw on Monday!

  6. Hi Miranda,
Glad that everything went smooth this week for you. You must be a very patient patient. We have been thinking about you and hoping for the best week. That is so great of your host family to open their home to you and "your team". Some more "angels in disguise", and less to worry about. So glad you get to see your little munchkins this weekend too. I am sure it seemed like an eternity without them. Have a great time!! Praying for you and sending lots of love. The Koosmann's
