Today marked another day in history for our family. When I was in 2nd grade...many moons ago...I walked up to Mt. Whittlesey with my class. Even though the teacher I had at the time retired last year, she still made the trip up with us this year. This trip has become a tradition year after year - I can't imagine how many little feet have climbed that landmark in our small town. There was a bit of nastalga today as I walked with my son up the hill. We had so many fun adventures and had so much fun. Dylan kept telling me throughout the day that he was having a good time - if you are a parent...you know how exciting this is to hear from your child. My dad is also logging on the hill and he was the 'special guest' today to teach the class about some of the history with the iron ore mining and even cut down a tree, skid it out, and then showed us how to age the tree. Dylan (and I) were so proud to have PaPa there with us today and were so excited when he was able to have lunch with us.
Dylan was soooo happy to see his PaPa coming down the trail in his skidder!!
We learned a lot from our special guest!
We had fun watching PaPa cutting down a tree!
And...we learned how to age a tree...
We sure love you Mrs. LaRose
Lunch with PaPa was a lot of fun!
Two generations with Mrs. Ehrhardt
We finally made it to the tower and then we had to draw a picture it!
The WHOLE 2nd grade - such a great group of kids!!
Looks like an awesome day! I can just see the pride in Dylan's (and your) eyes! That is so cool! XXOO Granny
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat experience to make that trek with Dylan today. My memory isn't as sharp as yours Miranda, but I will never forget what a great field trip it was 'many moons ago'!
