So much in one little cookie.....

About a week ago we went to eat at a Chinese restaurant...at the end of the meal we enjoyed the ritual of a fortune cookie. After everyone chose the cookie they wanted, I got mine....the fortune inside read "you will soon be blessed with great health".  I laughed and tossed it aside...as I did that, Jason picked it up and responded to me with "I believe that this will happen".  As the days went by and my upcoming appointment with Mayo approached, we all were filled with anxiety and fear.

After 777 days of fighting cancer, I finally heard the words that I had so desperately needed to hear.  "Your scan was clear".  Words will never explain how Jason and I felt at this very moment, but the one word that pops into my mind is "overwhelmed".  This journey has been the most difficult, yet most rewarding one we have ever been on, but we can finally say that we "beat the beast".  Life will never be the same for us, and we will continue to try to put this behind us, but reflecting back, we honestly could not have battled this battle the way we did, without our family and friends.  Thank you all for that!

A good friend of mine told me today "Now you are FREE!! Wow what a word. Free of cancer means a whole lot of Free!!"  There is so much meaning to this phrase for me and it really meant a lot for her to say it.  I do have to say that I thought it was pretty crazy that on the 777th day I get this news.  I did a little research and found many biblical correlations to these numbers, but there was one little fun fact that I wanted to share "On slot machines in casinos, three sevens in a row is the jackpot. This is because seven is supposed to be a lucky number."  I would have to agree - I DID hit the jackpot yesterday!!

Thank you especially to my "rock" Jason.  We have been to battle side by side and came out victorious.  There were many times that we each had to boost each other up, but in the end we were as one. Thank you sweetie for ALWAYS being the optimistic one and for always having faith.  In the mean time...we are GETTING BUSY LIVING!!

  2. Hon; Seven in the Bible refers allot to complete, and God rested on the seventh day,(completing the creation). Your journey is complete, now is your time to rest. Also if you add the three sevens up you get "21", you were told this wonderful news on the 21st of the 3rd month.. Love you with all my Heart. Dad

  5. We never gave up hope my dear Sister, never ever. Jason said early on that he knew that you both were being taught a lesson, but he wasn't sure what it was. I think now you both can teach others the lesson(s) you have been taught!

It was not a fun battle, but you made it, together, and are better people because of it. Anyone that knows you well knows this and for this I am very thankful. I treasure you all more than you will ever know.

Love and hugs and sniffles and stuff!!!!

  6. I can't even begin to tell you how excited, relieved, and happy I am that you are now free of what has consumed your life for the past 2 years. I remember the night you called me after you found out. We cried together, but I knew that somehow you would have the upper hand and beat this - and you did. Love you! Shellie

Because of you, my life will never be the same and I love you so very very much for that! You have demonstrated unbelievable strength to kick cancer to the curb and have been so beautiful inside and out doing it! Love you so much! Seija
