As the anniversary of the day I was diagnosed comes and goes, I struggle with the decision to even acknowledge it. Maybe if we don't talk about it, it will go away....right? Of course, that isn't reality and then I begin to realize that the day I was diagnosed brought many blessings to me and also made me a better person.
Throughout this battle I never considered myself a survivor. I kept telling myself that once my cancer was in remission I would be considered a survivor and then would be able to say that out loud. Little did I know that every day since I have been diagnosed I have been a survivor. A survivor of this disease is one who survives each and every day from the moment they get diagnosed. Surviving the diagnosis, doctor appointments, treatments, family strains, financial burdens, physical and emotional demands, and so many other things that come with it.
The past two years of this battle have given me and my family a huge realization that life is very fragile and can change in a heartbeat. We are fortunate to be able to actually say that we know what it means to live life to the fullest, and are so fortunate for all of the wonderful things that have come our way and the many things that we are conscience about because of all of this.
I want to especially thank Jason, Dylan, and Hayden for standing beside me and helping me be a survivor. In my eyes, they are survivors too! Love you my boys!
You are an inspiration to many people Miranda, me included!!! Love you girl and am so glad things are going well for all of you!

Little does anyone know as they enter the darkness whether or not there will be light at the end. I have witnessed the light in your life and your families life as you have been "surviving". It has come as a struggle a lot of days, but as a blessing a lot of others. Keep up the fight Merilla. I continue to pray that this will END for you.
ReplyDeleteLove you lots!
